Lake crossing Arenal to Monteverde
This service, half tour – half transfer is a scenic, fast and the newest way to go or come from La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano Area), to the Monteverde area.

Around 7:30 a.m. we start picking everybody from the hotels in La Fortuna for a 30 minutes microbus drive to the Arenal Lake Dam.

There we will aboard into a very comfortable and safe pontoon boat for 30 to 40 minutes (approximately) ride to Río Chiquito, a little town at the other side of the lake.

Arenal Lake is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is also a place where you can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Sometimes mammals can be seen in the surroundings, also great views of the Arenal Volcano when it’s clear.

Once at Río Chiquito, we’ll leave the boat and make a short break to strength the legs, after, another 1 1 / 2 hour microbus ride to get to the hotels in the Monteverde area, sometimes during the rainy season this transfer could take longer.

Duration: 3½ hours approximately.

Arenal Volcano Hike
The Arenal Volcano tour transports guests to the active northwest side of the volcano. The tour begins with a hike and depending upon which side of the volcano the lava is flowing, we go either to the trail "Los Tucanes" at the National Park or Mirador El Silencio..It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, magnificent lava rock formations and the Arenal Lake just in time for sunset!

During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the mineral hot springs (optional). Note: Entrance to hot springs is not included.

Departure:   8:00a.m. or 3:00p.m. from La Fortuna.

Arrival               12:00m.d. or 6:30p.m. to La Fortuna.

Safari Float Trip to Peñas Blancas River
Experience the peacefulness of the forest traveling on Peñas Blancas river, with the opportunity to observe many animals like: monkeys, sloths, iguanas, tortoises, crocodiles, and several types of birds. Our boat doesn't have motor, this way you will enjoy of the journey quietly rowing and taking photos, while you enjoy of drinking and tropical fruits without disturb the animals.

In this tour will be accompanied by experienced naturalist, who will explain many fascinating details about trees, plants, birds and other animals. This is a half-day tour especially designed for people with the limited amount time.

Pure Trek
No experience necessary, family friendly!

Pick up and drop off at your hotel (La Fortuna – Arenal area only). A 30 minute 4×4 drive will bring all clients to the ranch house. We will give you a safety talk, put your gear on, and then embark on a short trek to the top of the first waterfall where we start our descent. There are 4 rappels ranging in height from 165 feet to 45 feet, and all are guaranteed to get your blood moving! We have constructed trails that lead you from waterfall to waterfall through the canyon; it’s like being in a national park. Then a short trek out of the canyon will lead you back to the truck and back to our base for lunch in view of the famous Arenal Volcano.

We at Pure Trek did the very 1st descent into this canyon and have pioneered this sport in Costa Rica, so get ready for a in a lifetime Costa Rican Rainforest experience!

All of our guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid and CPR as well as in the procedures used in rock climbing and rope course operation. The construction of our anchors and rappel lines meet the requirements as set by the Rock climbing industry and our group of engineers from Linea Vertical. Daily safety checks are preformed on all systems and equipment.

Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered one of the richest sites in the continent for the observation of birds. Beside an abundance of birds, Caño Negro is also refuge of many other animals like: sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and anative flora of the wet land.

Our tour to this beautiful region, leaves from La Fortuna, driving for about an hour and a half until Los Chiles, which is a rustic town that meets to only five kilometers of the border of Nicaragua, it is here where we take the boat down to Río Frío for about three hours. From the beginning of the trip, our professional guide will explain each one of the plantations that we will see on the way, as well as the flora and fauna of the region.

Hiking to Celeste River
We leave early in route to Rio Celeste (Light Blue River), located into the Tenorio Volcano National Park, near the mountain range. There is a hike of 5 miles approximately waiting for us, through the tropical rain forest. We will arrive “Los Teñideros” of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name.

We will continue our hike through the jungle to seek out the volcano’s furnace vents that expel gases of extreme high temperatures. On our decent we will get to see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall whose color makes it one of a kind! Our final reward is an exquisite lunch at the end of our journey.

INCLUDES: Transportation, naturalist guide, beverages, lunch and entrance fee to park.

Sunset Lake Tour
Enjoy a pleasant sunset on Arenal Lake and breath taking views of the Arenal Volcano. Arenal Lake is place that counts with many natural attractions and from which you can watch the impressive eruptions of lava of Arenal Volcano. Due to the beauty of the landscapes and lush vegetation, Arenal Lake surrounding areas have become an excellent spot for boat rides.

In this two hours boat ride you will have the opportunity to see a huge variety of birds such as “Flycatchers”, “Kingfishers”, “Anhinga” and mammals such as monkeys, coatis and sloths. During the trip our guide will give you all the information about the area.
